Jackson Rees is an artist, writer and illustrator, originally from Birmingham, UK, born 1990. Having studied Illustration at the University of the West England, he has since worked as a book designer, life-drawing tutor, and is now freelancing as an editorial cartoonist. His cartoons have been published in Private Eye & The Spectator, and his illustrations have been featured in magazines such as New Statesman, Noble Rot and Museum Journal.
He is currently working on two book projects, a graphic novel for younger readers, and an illustrated novel for adults about Victorian mental healthcare. These two books were developed during his artist residency at La Maison des Auteurs, in Angouleme, France during the summer of 2015. In December 2015 he made the final shortlist for ‘Young Cartoonist of the Year 2015’ and had worked exhibited at ‘The Cartoon Museum’ in London
